One of the excellent features of the Windows operating system is the Check Disk (CHKDSK) utility. It efficiently verifies the integrity of the data kept on a hard drive.         Solution 2: Running CHKDSK on Boot<\/h2>\n

        If you need the CHKDSK utility for fixing and recovering damaged segments on your drive, you can follow the troubleshooting steps below:<\/p>\n

        1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key+S.<\/li>\n
        2. Inside the Search box, type \u201cCommand Prompt\u201d (no quotes).<\/li>\n
        3. Right-click Command Prompt from the results, then select Run as Administrator.<\/li>\n
        4. Once Command Prompt is up, type \u201cchkdsk \/r\u201d (no quotes), then hit Enter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          \u201cChkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y\/N)\u201d<\/p>\n

          1. Type \u201cY\u201d (no quotes) inside Command Prompt, then press Enter on your keyboard.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The CHKDSK utility will perform a scan on your PC\u2019s next startup.<\/p>\n

            Solution 3: Disabling the Write Protection Feature<\/h2>\n

              1. Now, go to the left pane, then expand the contents of the System folder.<\/li>\n
              2. Expand CurrentControlSet to find Services.<\/li>\n
              3. Click USBSTOR.<\/li>\n
              4. Go to the right pane, then double-click Start.<\/li>\n
              5. Inside the box, type \u201c3\u201d (no quotes).<\/li>\n
              6. Exit the Registry Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
