Your system needs these components if it’s going to handle the game’s processing needs without faltering. You’ll find the minimum and recommended requirements of Green Hell below.

The minimum requirements detail the specs needed to run the game, while the recommended requirements show you what you need to have to achieve the best performance when playing the game.

If you don’t know how to confirm your computer’s specs, there’s a guide right after the requirements that will walk you through the process.

Minimum Requirements

Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit

CPU: 3.2 GHz Dual Core Processor

System Memory: 4 GB RAM

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660; AMD Radeon RX 460 or similar with 2 GB of VRAM

Storage: 8 GB available space

DirectX: Version 11

Sound Card: DirectX compatible

Recommended Requirements

Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit

CPU: 3.2 GHz Dual Core Processor

System Memory: 8 GB RAM

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 970; AMD Radeon RX 580 or similar with 2 GB of VRAM

Storage: 8 GB available space

DirectX: Version 11

Sound Card: DirectX compatible

How to check your PC’s specifications

There are different ways to find details about your system: You can go through the Settings application, check the System window, or use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Since most of the details you’re looking for can be found in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, we’ll be showing you how to use it. Follow these steps:

Go to your taskbar, right-click on the Start button, and then click on Run. If you want to use the keyboard shortcut to summon the dialog box, press the Windows and R keys simultaneously.

Go to the text box in the Run dialog, type “dxdiag” (without entering the quotes), and then click on the OK button or push Enter on your keyboard.

After the DirectX Diagnostic Tool loads, you’ll find your PC’s specifications listed under System Information. The specs to take note of here include your CPU make and model, OS architecture, system memory, and DirectX version.

To check the specifications of your graphics card and sound card, head to the Display tab and Sound tab, respectively.

If you want to check how much free storage you have, open a File Explorer window, using the Windows + E keyboard combo, go to the left pane and click This PC, then navigate to the Devices and Drives section on the right side of the screen.

Now that you’ve compared your system’s specs to what’s listed on Green Hell’s system requirements, you should know what to upgrade. If your computer satisfies the game’s needs, then you must move forward in resolving the frequent crashing problems.

Run the game as an administrator

Your game needs access to certain files and folders (most of which are protected) to run properly. If it doesn’t have the permissions to use these system resources, Windows will block its access. This is one of the common causes of crashing problems in the game. You can get rid of this underlying issue by running the game as an administrator.

To do that, you have to be logged into a user account with administrator rights. Whenever you want to play the game, right-click on its Start menu listing or desktop icon and click on “Run as administrator”. To change the game’s launch settings so that you won’t have to always right-click on it, follow the steps below:

Go to your keyboard and press the Windows and E keys together.

After the File Explorer window appears, navigate to the left side and click on This PC.

Go to the right side after that and double-click the volume where your programs are installed (this should be the Local Disk C).

After the drive opens, navigate to Program Files (x86) and open it.

Next, head to the Steam folder and open it.

After the Steam folder shows up, locate the Steamapps folder and double-click it.

Now, open the Common folder, then double-click on Green Hell’s folder after that.

If you installed the game and/or Steam in a different directory, then the steps above won’t help you locate the Green Hell’s installation folder. You’ll have to summon it via Steam instead. Follow these steps:

Launch the Steam client.

After the program appears, navigate to the menu area and click on Library.

Once you see the games list, locate Green Hell, right-click on it, and then click on Properties in the context menu.

Go to the right side of the window and click on Local Files.

Next, click on “Browse local files” once the options under the Local Files tab appear.

You’ll now see Green Hell’s installation folder.

Now, navigate to the EXE file of the game, right-click it, and then click on Properties.

Once the Properties dialog window appears, you must go to the Compatibility tab.

Make sure you check the box beside “Run this program as an administrator,” then click on the OK button.

Run Green Hell and check if the crashing problem persists.

Verify integrity of game files

Corrupt or missing game files are also known culprits of game crashes. You can resolve the problem by scanning your game files and replacing those that are missing or corrupt. Your gaming client has a feature for it. Once you run it, it will compare the files on your computer with those on its server and replace the problematic ones.

The steps below will show you how to use your Steam client:

Go to your desktop area and double-click on Steam’s icon. If you don’t have a desktop icon, then you have to search for the program in the Start menu and launch it.

Once the Steam client appears, head to the top of the window and click on Library.

When you see your games library, look for Green Hell’s listing, right-click it, and then click on Properties.

Now, go to the right side of the screen and click on Local Files.

Once the Local Files tab is active, click on VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES…

The Steam client will now begin the process of checking whether all your game files are intact. If the program detects that certain files are missing or damaged, it will automatically download their replacements from its servers.

The duration of the process will depend on certain factors, including your system’s processing speed, your signal strength, and the number of files being processed.

After Steam completes the verification process, you’ll see a notification.

You can now restart the client and launch Green Hell to check for the crashing problem.

Update your graphics card driver

Games like Green Hell rely on powerful graphics cards to run properly. These cards also need drivers that are compatible with your operating system and game to process graphics tasks properly. If the driver has any issue, then your graphics card won’t get the right data to process. This is one of the main reasons for the crashing problem you’re experiencing.

To resolve the problem, uninstall the driver and install its updated version. To uninstall the program, you have to go to the Device Manager and uninstall the graphics card. Follow the steps below if you don’t know what to do:

Go to the taskbar and right-click on the Start button to summon the Quick Access menu. You can also utilize the Windows + X keyboard combination to open the menu.

Click on Device Manager after the menu shows up.

Once the Device Manager appears, expand Display Adapters.

Next, right-click your graphics card and click on Uninstall Device.

After you see the Uninstall Device confirmation window, tick the checkbox associated with “Delete the driver software for this device,” then click on the uninstall button.

Once Windows is done uninstalling your graphics card, restart your computer.

If you want to remove the driver and get rid of all its other entities while at it, you can go for the Display Driver Uninstaller. The program is freeware designed to specifically remove graphics card drivers and all their remnants. Another great application is the AMD Cleanup tool if you use an AMD card.

After removing the driver, you have to now install its latest version. There are different ways to do that, and they include using the Windows Update utility, using the Device Manager, and running an automated program.

You can also go to the website of your display adapter’s manufacturer and install the driver. However, this can be a little tricky and you might end up downloading the wrong driver. Before you tread that route, make sure you exhaust the options we’re going to be explaining.

Using the Windows Update Utility

Windows Update is the tool provided by Microsoft to automatically download and install updates for the operating system whenever they’re available. Part of the tool’s job is to install driver updates for different devices, and your graphics card happens to be one of them.

Windows Update downloads and installs only signed drivers that have been verified to be compatible with your system. The tool will automatically detect your card’s brand and model and match it with the right driver software. The only downside is that there’s a chance you won’t find the driver update because Microsoft often delays releases.

Regardless, we recommend that you start with Windows Update as the utility will also download and install other updates for software components that are critical to gaming. Follow the steps below:

Open the search utility beside the Start button by clicking on the magnifying glass in the taskbar or by pressing the Windows and S keys simultaneously.

After the search box appears, type “updates” (without the quotes), and then click on “Check for updates” in the results.

The Windows Update interface will now appear.

Click on the “Check for updates” button.

The utility will now bring up all the available updates for your PC. If your computer is up to date, you can move on to the next guide.

Allow Windows Update to automatically download the updates. If you see the Download Now button, click on it.

Once the updates are downloaded, click on the Restart Now button to allow your operating system to restart your computer and install the updates.

Your PC will reboot several times until the updates are completely installed.

After the installation process is complete, your computer will start up normally. Run Green Hell and check if the problem persists.

Using the Device Manager

Using the Device Manager is fairly simple. It can help you search for a device’s updated driver and automatically install it. You can also use it to install any driver that you download manually. However, we recommend that you use the automatic function as it’s safer. Follow the steps below:

Tap the Windows and S keys together or click on the magnifying glass in the taskbar to open the search box beside the Start button.

After the search utility appears, type “device manager” (without the quotes), then click on Device Manager in the search results.

After the Device Manager window shows up, click on the arrow beside Display Adapters.

Go to your graphics card, right-click it, and then click on Update Driver.

Once the Update Driver window appears, click on “Search automatically for updated driver software.”

Windows will now search for the driver and automatically install it.

After the process is complete, restart your system.

Update the driver automatically

If you want to go through a stress-free process, then you should turn to Auslogics Driver Updater. The program is designed for the sole purpose of keeping device drivers up to date, and it comes with other functions that make sure you don’t have to worry about driver problems.

Once you install the tool, it will run a scan on your system for outdated, missing, or wrongly installed drivers. These drivers can be automatically updated. The scans will happen routinely as time goes on so you can get updates whenever they’re released.

There are other advantages that come with using the program: You get to use officially signed drivers and your current drivers will be backed up before they’re updated to allow you to roll back if compatibility problems occur.

We’ll be showing you how to download, install, and use the program below:

Open this link to load the download page of Auslogics Driver Updater.

After the program opens, click on the Download button.

Once your browser downloads the installation file, run it.

Click on Yes once the User Account Control dialog window requests permission.

After the setup wizard appears, go to the first drop-down menu and select a language.

Choose your preferred installation folder under Installation Directory.

Enter other preferences, such as creating a desktop icon, allowing the program to launch when Windows starts, and allowing it to send anonymous reports to its developers.

Once you’re done entering your installation preferences, click on the “Click to install” button.

After the installation process is complete, restart your system.

If you have allowed the program to start automatically after your PC comes up, allow it to scan for problematic drivers.

If your graphics card driver has any problem, the program will notify you. Click on the update button, and then allow the update process to take place.

Restart your system and check for the problem.

Make sure your antivirus program isn’t blocking the game

Antivirus programs are known to block or quarantine new or updated games because they consider them to be threats. Some users resort to turning off their programs, but the recommended practice is adding the game as an exception.

When you add the game as an exception, the protection program will no longer scan it and block its files. Note that the exception feature goes by different descriptions in different antivirus programs. If you don’t know how to use the function in your third-party program, you can go online and check for a guide. However, if you rely on Windows Security (Windows Defender), then you can follow the steps below:

Run the Settings application. You can open the Start menu and click on the cog icon right above the power icon, or you can press the Windows and I keys together.

After Settings opens, click on Update & Security.

Go to the left pane of Update & Security and click on Windows Security.

Go to the Windows Security interface and click on Virus & Threat Protection under Protection Areas.

After the Virus & Threat Protection page appears, scroll to Virus & Threat Protection Settings and click on the Manage Settings link.

After the Virus & Threat Protection Settings screen appears, navigate to Exclusions and select the link that reads, “Add or remove exclusions.”

Now, click on “Add an exclusion” after the Exclusions page appears.

Choose Folder from the drop-down menu.

Once the Select Folder dialog appears, go to the game’s installation folder and select it.

Start the game and check for the crashing problem.

Reduce your in-game graphics settings

If the game’s graphics settings are too high for your computer, it will crash. This happens for most systems whose specs are very close to the game’s minimum requirements. So, go to the game’s options and try changing your graphics settings to medium and check for the issue.

Allow Steam through your firewall

The game might be crashing because your firewall program is blocking the Steam client. Follow these steps to allow the client through the program:

Go to Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Security and click on Firewall & Network Protection.

After the Firewall & Network Protection screen opens, click on “Allow an app through firewall.”

Once the Allowed Apps dialog window opens, click on the Change Settings button.

Navigate to the “Allowed apps and features” list, search for Steam, and then check the client’s boxes under Private and Public.

Click on the OK button, then check for the problem.

Conclusion

You should no longer experience the crashing problem in Green Hell. If the problem persists, reinstall the game and add it as an exception in your antivirus program as shown above.
