What is the best antivirus software for 2012? The year 2011 saw some exciting new versions of popular antivirus programs. The two giant security software rivals, BitDefender and Kaspersky, released new redesigned versions of all their products. Same goes for all other popular antivirus developers, such as McAfee, Norton, avast! and others. But what is the best antivirus software 2012 and what should you consider before you decide which antivirus to get? Let’s find out.
There are dozens of antivirus programs out there…
… not to mention all the Internet security suites, anti-malware programs, anti-spyware software and behavioral scanners. All these programs are designed to protect the user from viruses, malware, spyware and other threats. However, different users have different needs. That’s why it’s not easy to say what is the best antivirus software 2012.
Some people are looking for antivirus software that can provide automatic protection against all possible threats, updates itself in the background without causing any interruptions and has an easy to use interface. Others are looking for a solution that won’t affect system speed and performance and won’t interfere with their work too much. And there are advanced computer users who want total control over what the antivirus does, as these users don’t require some features that are needed by computer novices. But what is the best antivirus software 2012 for you?
When choosing an antivirus, a lot of home users look for a complete solution that will protect them from all kinds of security threats. This means that they are looking for antivirus, anti-malware and anti-spyware protection bundled up together. In addition to that, a lot of users like to have protection against phishing and identity theft, which is very important in the age of social media viruses and scams. It’s also always good to have an e-mail and IM scanner. So, if you are looking for complete protection, you need an antivirus that has all the basic features plus privacy and identity control, anti-phishing, and IM protection. All these features are present in Kaspersky, BitDefender, Auslogics and avast! antiviruses. This should answer the “what is the best antivirus software 2012” question for you.
However, feature-rich antiviruses have one significant disadvantage – they consume a lot of system resources. So, if your computer doesn’t have the latest hardware and is not very fast in the first place, the antivirus will slow it down even more. In extreme cases, antivirus software can make your computer very slow and can make it freeze (especially when you are performing a scan). So what is the best antivirus software 2012 for slower, less powerful computers? The answer is pretty easy – you need an antivirus that is light on system resources while providing top quality protection. So, if speed and performance are what you need, you should consider programs like Auslogics Anti-Malware.
Making the decision what is the best antivirus software 2012 depends on your preferences and needs. However, there are some things that every computer user should consider. Make sure the antivirus of your choice has good detection rates, has all the features you need, and is not too heavy on system resources.

auslogics antivirus is the best.
I tested both BitDefender and Kaspersky and to me BitDefender gave a better results this year. I also have to notice that this is very relative because of the amount of viruses being released everyday… There is no way to make the test absolutely competent…
Ejaz Mir, Bitdefender suffers with the problem of updates. Sans this shortcoming, it is a good antivirus.
I got Auslogics anti virus, and never detected false positive! And it is bestest Auslogics anti virus in the world! I love that software.
EXPERT RCTEC ANTI VIRUS 3.5 is light on the light…
Now you have to realize that the concept of virus detection using virus pattern or virus behavior is useless and has failed. Because for over two years proven flame malware virus was not detected and not realized.
So throw away the concept of virus detection pattern of the virus by collecting as much as possible and try to determine the behavior of the virus. Doing these things is a waste of time, effort, and cost. Because if you use the concept of thinking like that, you will always be three steps behind the virus creator.
Better to prevent than cure. When you study the flu virus, then at the same time the bird flu virus taking a new position as the new virus was not detected. The virus is already damaged and that have not gotten to know and have not been studied.
haha … some analysts give reactions.
Your analysis may not be enough. You just know the virus, worm and trojan. you are not aware of the opponents of the electron glow effect. computers can live because of the electronic motion of zero to three volts dc, although in theory be between three to five volts dc.
Like the human body, when you are in a normal state on average you are in the power of three volts, otherwise when you are unwell, you are under three volts or it could be more than five volts. As an analogy see your modem signal wave statistic, similar to the waves that exist in your body it is.
So, start learning to learn what happens to the body of your computer, not only a virus, worm, or trojan that we know so far.
I’ve spent hours researching and reading reviews. Biggest issue is slow down of computer speed from various programs. Finding more good than bad reviews for bit defender was difficult. It seems that all programs have their shortcomings. Best approach appears to be one that has you use a basic antivirus program without all the additional extras on some other programs. Best to buy programs that are designed for a specific job.
There are a few paid programs that have good results but reviews on some free programs have them standing their ground. All the bad reviews on some programs have me asking if the good ones are paid for promotion. IS it possible that the problems are not with the software but maybe the user or their computer?
I hate to say it, but I purchased BitDefender 2012 earlier this year, and had to end up uninstalling it and purchasing Webroot’s anti-virus protection instead. After hearing rave reviews about BitDefender, I decided to give them a try. But as soon as I downloaded and activated the program, my computer started crashing and giving me the infamous, dreaded Blue Screen. (I’m running Windows 7 Home Edition on a Gateway computer that’s no more than 3 years old.) For two weeks, I tried every troubleshooting idea I could think of to solve the problem, including reinstalling their program several times. But nothing worked. I then wrote BitDefender’s tech support about the problem, and they sent instructions for me to copy some files & send them to them. But their instructions sounded a little too involved & somewhat confusing to follow. At that point, I had lost my interest in their product and reluctantly requested a refund. When I cancelled my purchase, they wanted to know the details of the problems I had with their product and what other anti-virus product I was considering purchasing. Unfortunately, I never heard back from them after writing a lengthy reply.
The best Norton Internet Security 2012 and coming 2013 🙂
I just bought a new laptop (Sony Vaio E series if it matters) and I’m looking for the best protection I can find. I don’t really understand the differences between adware and spyware and I don’t know what I need to buy in order to keep my comp safe from them as well as the viruses that are out there. I’ve been researching a few and so far it seems that PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Kaspersky are getting the best reviews for an all in one kind of protection, but some reviews also say they slow down your system quite a bit. Can anyone tell me what I should get that will protect me and also keep my laptop from performing slowly? Thanks for any help!
This article really does not state WHAT are the best virus protectors and why. I’ve used Avast! and I have to say when that red box pops up stopping me from navigating to an infected website I’m grateful it is there. I used Microsoft Essentials and ended up with the worst virus in the world. Only way to recover from it was to format my drive and reinstall. If ME cannot protect me from the worst known virus then it is not a good product.
I’ve not tried Auslogics at all yet. The UI looks nice. But my experience with Microsoft Essentials makes me not want to try anything new.
