Do you use multiple web browsers because just one is not good enough? Firefox is my favourite browser, but some websites don’t work well with it – that’s when I switch to IE. And when I suddenly get sick of both, I switch to Chrome for a while.  Switching between browsers is a hassle – wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a combination of FF, IE, and Chrome!

Lunascape 5 Genesis is such a combination. It’s the world’s first triple-engine web browser that combines 3 most popular rendering engines:

• Trident (Internet Explorer)
• Gecko (Firefox)
• WebKit (a combination of Chrome and Safari)

The beauty of it is that you can switch between rendering engines and use different rendering engines for separate pages.

When you start Lunascape for the first time, it asks you to select a default engine. You can always change your choice later. For example, Trident (IE) is your default rendering engine. You open a website and feel like switching to Gecko (Firefox). All you need to do is right-click on the tab bar, navigate to Switch Engine, and select the engine you want to use:

Apart from the ability to switch rendering engines, Lunascape offers you some really nice features:

1. If you have experienced a crash, just close the tab that crashed. The rest of the browser will stay unaffected.

2. If you want to subscribe to an RSS feed or a podcast, just drag-and-drop it into your Favourites. Lunascape will automatically keep you updated. A feature called Popup News will display the latest RSS update in a pop-up window. You can set the frequency of the updates, so that the pop-ups won’t annoy you.

3. If you are concerned about security, you can deactivate Java and ActiveX scripts while downloading.

4. Lunascape supports mouse gestures. Just by clicking and moving your mouse you can execute common commands, such as page forward and backward, close or refresh actions. All without using toolbars or the keyboard.

5. Various plug-ins. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer plug-ins are supported.

6. Nice choice of skins.

Now, I know it’s still pretty buggy and there is a lot of work to be done. But it does look like a very promising browser. What do you think?
